Construction of a secondary school’s four unit apartment for teachers funded by the Morobe Provincial Government infrastructure grant is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Busu Secondary School Principal, Mr George Noble, said they received K530,000 from the provincial government at the end of last year for this infrastructure development.
Mr Noble said the school board of governing council decided to use this money to build an apartment with three bedrooms for the school’s heads of departments.
A contract was awarded and the project was expected to be completed by May this year but due to unexpected circumstances beyond their control, it has been delayed to December.
The total cost for this building is approximately K630,000 as we added another K100,000 to the initial funding.
This building will accommodate HODs (heads of departments) for science, language & literature, social science and guidance & counseling.

Mr Noble said so far two units have been completed and works is still continuing for the two remaining units so once it’s done, painting will commence followed by electrical works. He said they are focusing on changing teacher’s accommodation to apartments so they build the first apartment in 2019 and this year, with MPG grant, they build the second apartment.
We have plans to build the third apartment but before this, we have to construct our new administration building which is estimated to cost the school K2 million.
Lae MP and Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso has given us K500,000 this year and we will use this money to start the construction of our administration building.
Mr Noble
He said they spent about K21, 000 for the drawing and approval for the building board and will need additional funding to assist funding available to have this administration building commenced.
