Sarah Karo, 21, is one of the nine contestants in this year’s Miss South Pacific Papua New Guinea pageant (MSPP).

Karo, from Hula, in Central, is entering the pageant as Miss Nambawan Trophy Haus Ltd. She is studying towards attaining a bachelor of business degree in financial risk management at Victoria University, in Melbourne, Australia.

Karo, an Australian aid scholarship winner, said the development of literacy and financial literacy were the two issues that drove her into entering the pageant.

“It is my belief that MSPP will further allow me to represent Papua New Guinea in a manner not only befitting a recipient of an Australian scholarship but as a proud Papuan New Guinean woman helping to shape a brighter future for the present and future generations of our country,” she said.

The pageant’s crowning ceremony will be held on Nov 11 at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Port Moresby.
