The Sonoma Adventist College (SAC) in East New Britain Province will soon have access to a new library and an early childhood education centre funded through a grant from the Papua New Guinea-Australia Partnership Incentive Fund.
The K12.8 million project was launched by representatives from the Australian High Commission in Port Moresby, including Minister Counsellor Paul Lehmann and ENB Governor Michael Marum at the Sonoma campus in Kokopo, last Monday.
The project’s opening work is under way and is expected to be concluded early next year. Rhodes Builders PNG Limited has been contracted to work on the project.
The best results come from instilling a passion for learning and a positive mindset toward education from an early age.
In order to achieve these goals, the new initiative will provide new childcare spaces, which will help not only college students but also the local community.
Mr Lehmann
He said the centre will also provide safe, appropriate early childhood education for children in the surrounding community.
