The Don Bosco Technological Institute (DBTI) is considering the option of becoming an Entrepreneurial University, which will be the first of its kind in the country.
DBTI President, Fr. Ariel Macatangay, during an exhibition tour at the institution said that it is the DBTI management’s vision to transform the institution into an entrepreneurial university.
He said an entrepreneurial university is one where apart from traditional university’s mission of education and research, a third mission to contribute to economic development through the transfer of research results from the institution to economic systems is added.
The entrepreneurial university can contribute to economic development through different mechanisms such as research joint ventures and the creation of academic spin-off companies.
He said this is the kind of university that is largely considered a key actor of competitiveness, economic growth, and wealth creation in the modern world.
It will be the kind where our students try to help themselves learn with open and innovative minds.
Fr. Ariel
Fr. Ariel continued that he has shared the idea with the Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (HERST), Hon. Don Polye, who is very much in favor and is supporting the idea.
In the meantime, the private Catholic institution is preparing for its 21st graduation ceremony that will happen on the 16th of this month (November).
Thank you Fr. Ariel for the great initiative.
It’s a great initiative and new generational previledge Fr. Arial. In deed DBTI has to grow and expand to cater for the needs of this advancing age.
A great initiative and above all a move in the right direction.
That is the missing link with our higher learning institutions. An enterpreneuel mindset for business creation after school.
