NiuSky Pacific Limited (NSPL) is an independent corporatized entity established under Papua New Guinea’s Companies Act of 1997. Under the Civil Aviation Rules Part 100, 171, 172 & 175, NiuSky Pacific Ltd is responsible for providing and maintaining safe air navigation, communication, and surveillance services to both domestic and international airline operators flying within and through the PNG airspace. The Company is committed to pursuing global standards of excellence in aviation safety and Air Traffic Service delivery to its customers and invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals to join the 2024 Air Traffic Control Trainee Program.
Air Traffic Control is a highly specialized discipline and involves significant training to international standards in safety and service provision. Accordingly, the Trainee Program ensures all trainees receive the best training available to support the company’s strategic vision to provide the highest level of safety and service within PNG-administered airspace.
Air Traffic Control trainees will initially graduate as Air Traffic Services Assistants prior to becoming eligible for further training opportunities. They will be initially responsible for assisting other Air Traffic Services personnel in the execution of their duties and ensuring ICAO flight plans and related aircraft movement messages are correctly entered into the state-of-the-art Air Traffic Management (ATM) system and/or providing services as a Simulator Support Officer.
Air Traffic Services Assistants’ tasks and duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring all flight plans received are correctly disseminated to all relevant Air Traffic Services Units
- Ensuring erroneous flight plans and related aircraft movement messages are corrected in accordance with strict protocols required for processing by the ATM System
- Providing aeronautical information to other Air Traffic Services units
- Providing support services within the Air Traffic Services training simulator
Selection Criteria
- University graduate with a relevant science degree, and with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must be between the ages of 21 — 26 years
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess interpersonal skills and be an effective team player
- Must be of sober habits, mature, and possess a high level of self-discipline
- Must be able and willing to do shift work including working on weekends and public holidays
- Able to work well under extreme pressure
- Have an interest in aviation and a genuine desire and motivation to build a career in the Air Traffic Services field
