Heavy Trade Skills Acceptance List 2011 (TVETSSP)

The Office of Higher Education (OHE) is pleased to announce the names of the 86 successful applicants for TVETSSP from the Expressions of Interest received between April & May 2010. This second batch of scholars will focus on Heavy Trade skills only.

The selection criteria was based on (a) applicants meeting the minimum Gr.12 GPA of 2 and from these, those with ‘C’ grade or better in English & Math were considered.

  1. The age range was set at between 18 & 26.
  2. Applicants were restricted to unemployed candidates,
  3. Interest in Heavy Trades Skills,
  4. Applicant list was sent to the Department of Education (DoE) and OHE for verification & validation of the certificates. It is to be noted that a fair number of applicants’ certificates could not be matched, verified or validated with the records at DoE and OHE.

The final selected students will be studying at 2 Australian TAFE Colleges, Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE (Townsville) & Tropical North Queensland TAFE (Cairns) for Certificate level II courses in Heavy Trades. Specifics of the Scholarship will be included in their Acceptance Letter.

The successful applicants must attend to the following immediately:

Passports

All students are responsible to have their individual passports processed. (Passport Application fee is K100). The following would need to be submitted directly to PNG Immigration Services for the processing of passport:

  • Birth Certificate;
  • 2  passport sized photos, and;
  • K100.00 for processing fee.

Visa

Applicants would also need to provide the following documents for the processing of their Visa Applications.

  • Complete Form 157A (Application for a student visa) which will be sent with the Acceptance Letter (Student Visa application forms can be collected directly from Australian High Commission or downloaded from the Australian Immigration website: www.immi.gov.au)
  • 4 recent passport sized photographs (with the name of the applicant printed on the back of each photograph)
  • Police Clearance Certificate to be obtained from nearest Police Station
  • Receipts of Payment for medical and x‐ray examinations from a panel doctor ‐ All medical and x‐ray examinations can only be done with the following panel doctors at the respective clinics. These panel doctors are:
    • Dr Lynda Deborah Sirigoi and Dr Mark Paul ‐ Port Moresby Private Specialists Medical Centre, Port Moresby.
    • Dr Blasius Kagl Tonar ‐ West New Britain Clinic, Kimbe,
    • Dr A Chelvanathan ‐ Port Moresby Medical Service, Port Moresby,
    • Dr John Mackerell ‐ Family Clinic, Madang,
    • Dr Lautofa Pulotu McCarthy ‐ Jacobi Medical Centre, Port Moresby.

Students are advised to get medical examinations done ahead of visa application lodgements

 

Please note that the 86 scholarship placings are for Certificate level II courses in Heavy Trades only and training will commence in July, 2011.   1. I have just completed Gr. 12 at Henganofi Secondary School in 2010. I wish to apply for TVETSSP application that you have adverstised in the newspaper (The National), Wednesday 27th April 2011 using my brother email address as metioned above or used. Could you please email me a TVETSST Application form using this email address for apply via email because its a chance and previlage for me since I did not secuerd a place in tertiary institutions in the counrty. I believe this is an opportunity for me and don’t want to missed it. However, remember that your respond and help will be a blesing to me.
