Secretary for the National Department of Education Dr. Musawe Sinabare has stated that no extra charges should be made by schools. However, some parents are complaining that some schools are still charging them fees.
According to reports in The Post Courier, Dr. Sinabare’s Executive Officer Mordechai Baine said that as far as the department is concerned no child will pay for education this year. He also stated that any school charging fees must be reported to their respective provincial education division and schools that have charged fees must refund the monies immediately. Only parents and guardians of students doing grades 11 and 12 will have to pay 25% this year.
Meanwhile some schools have confirmed receiving part of the government’s subsidy.
