Enga’s education policy has seen another milestone with the opening of the Port Moresby Institute of Matriculation Studies (PIMS) in the province’s capital last week.

The center will now give the opportunity to young Engans who have missed out on furthering their education, to upgrade their marks to qualify for entry into tertiary institutes.

The PIMS Wabag Center was official opened by Enga governor and education advocate, Peter Ipatas. The governor said the launching was a culmination of his long term vision for the province. He said Enga was chosen as a bridging facility for the Highlands provinces.

Governor Ipatas also donated K100, 000 to the center for establishment costs.

The people of the province have also welcomed the center with open arms. Community leader, Henry Apupuni, said the institution would add value to the academic standards of their children. He also pledge support to the center.

PIMS was established in 1996 by founding director, Norman Sike, and currently has 8 centers around the country. The Wabag Center is the first in the Highlands region.
