Water to Kerevat National School of Excellence restored

Water supply into Kerevat National School of Excellence has been restored and teachers resume today, according to the Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra.

Last Thursday, angry landowners from Napapar closed the iconic Kerevat National High School when officials from the provincial government failed to turn up to listen to their demand claims of K150 million for the use of the land by the government since 1974.

Our Team with the ENB PEA (Provincial Education Adviser) with the leadership of Minister Wong and Provincial Administrator had settled the Kerevat matter.

Dr Kombra told the Post-Courier

He said the former principal and ward five member were arrested and charged for disrupting the water supply.

Kerevat National School of Excellence commences tomorrow with teachers and a new principal, a new interim board and students to start next Monday Jan 31st.

We will support the land owners where necessary regarding their land claim.

Dr Kombra

Dr Kombra said no formal agreement was made in terms of payments.

He said land owners allowed the school to start because they came to an understanding that their action to shut down the school was illegal.

He said an interim board and principal has been appointed to start today.

They will be seeing the operation of the school starting today.
