No teaching qualification, no admission, says TSC chairman

No teaching qualification, no admission, says the Teaching Service Commission chairman Samson Wangihomie.

We will only admit the new graduates who have applied for admission with their qualifications attached with other required documents.

Wangihomie

This is consistent with section 12 of the Teaching Service Act.

Mr Wangihomie was responding to queries on whether or not TSC will be admitting the recent teacher graduates from the University of Goroka and other teachers colleges who graduated with degrees and diplomas pending due to outstanding tuition fees that they need to pay up.

If they do not have their degrees, if they have their outstanding school fees, the onus is on the student, (or the teacher) to pay up and get their degrees and what not, so that they can attach with their resumptions to get on payroll.

No degree qualification attached, TSC will not entertain.

Mr Wangihomie

Vice Chancellor of the University of Goroka Dr Teng Waninga said keeping their degrees was the only way to make graduates pay up their fees.

We don’t give out their degrees until they (the graduates) settle their outstanding fees.

Dr Wanginga

This included also the recipients of the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) of the government.

Last year, the HELP loan recipients of 2021 who graduated, were given their degrees after their graduation, following the outstanding HELP fund payment by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.
