Despite the rise in Covid-19 confirmed cases in Lae city and Morobe, schools will not be closed, provincial education acting adviser Keith Tangui says.
Tangui told The National that strict Covid-19 protocols would be observed by all schools and the responsibility was now on the public, parents, students and teachers to adhere to the “Niupela Pasin”.

Tangui said the same protocols that were in place in schools earlier when the Covid-19 was first detected in the province needed to be maintained through out the second wave of the coronavirus.
Lae City and Morobe are expecting a sharp increase in the Covid-19 cases through community transmission according to the Morobe health authority whose committee met last Saturday.
The committee members raised the concern regarding how well schools could be supported.
Tangui said all the Covid-19 protocols would be strictly followed at all schools and, if someone in a school developed symptoms of the disease, they would be immediately isolated.
Schools must provide a room where those showing symptoms of the Covid-19 could be isolated and the response team is called.

He said he had sent out a circular to all schools to take all necessary steps to prepare for the second wave of the Covid-19 in Lae and Morobe.
