Police dispatched to investigate death

Police personnel have been dispatched to investigate the alleged killing of a teacher in the Wau-Waria district two (2) weeks ago, The National reports.

John Orebut, acting Administrator and District Authority CEO, confirmed the killing and said police personnel from Lae traveled to the district on Tuesday to investigate and arrest the suspect. He added that the suspect is on the run and had initially escaped to Biaru but has returned to his village.

Orebut further identified the deceased teacher as James Hubo, a teacher at Koruma Primary School.

Hubo was allegedly killed on November 20 and his body was repatriated to the funeral home in Lae on Tuesday. The motive behind the killing is under investigation.

Meanwhile, the Morobe Provincial Education Board (PEB) is yet to receive a formal report and will be releasing a statement as soon as police investigations are complete.
